Hello! I am a labour economist and data scientist at UNU-MERIT, Maastricht University. I trained first as an electronics engineer and spent three years building embedded systems in industry, then moved to economics to study technology from the other side: not how it is built, but what it does to work.
My research measures technological change, automation, artificial intelligence, and the green and digital transition, and studies how it reshapes skills, tasks, wages, and the structure of work. I build these measures from large-scale text using natural language processing and large language models, and pair them with quasi-experimental designs. The questions running through this work are which skills gain and lose value as technologies diffuse, where adoption takes root first and why, and whether artificial intelligence augments or replaces the work people do. The answers matter for how firms organise, how workers train, and how regions grow.
I am on the 2026–27 economics job market.
